FRAGRANCE WITH PLANET

<FRAGRANCE WITH PLANET>

Sandalwood, guaiac, oud, rosewood…
Did you know these are all endangered plants because of the perfume industry?

It takes cutting down trees over 30 years old—uprooting them entirely—to extract just a small amount of precious wood oil. Trees are deliberately wounded to obtain sap, causing them to wither, and wild herbs are harvested without respecting ethical collection ratios. Some animals are even killed to obtain aromatic substances. Out of 80,000 plant and animal species used in fragrance production worldwide, 15,000 are at risk of extinction.

The exhibition follows FRA422’s journey to discover and explore how to enjoy fragrance ethically and creatively.

It shows that the responsibility we bear when enjoying scents doesn’t have to restrict us—it can instead become a source of creativity. And it reveals how design makes this possible.
